Overview

• Normal intracardiac pressures (see chart above) 
• Pulmonary wedge pressure (PWP)
  • an approximation of left atrial pressure and left ventricular diastolic pressure
  • measured with Swan-Ganz catheter
  • in mitral stenosis, PWP > left ventricular diastolic pressure
