Introduction

• Cause of acute adrenocortical insufficiency
• Typically follows Neisseria meningitidis septicemia 
  • infection causes endotoxic shock and DIC
• leads to consequent bilateral adrenal hemorrhage and infarction

Presentation

• Physical exam
  • meningitis with petechial lesions
